Romeo and Juliet Advice Letter

Dear Mercutio,

This is your buddy ol' pal Jared speaking. From one guy to another, I don't think you should get involved with the conflict between the Montague and Capulet houses. I recognize that Romeo and Benvolio are your friends, and that you are very loyal to them, but I don't think it's worth risking your life for such a childish family feud. I advise you, for the time being, to maybe hang out with Romeo and Benvolio less, until the tension with Tybalt dies down. That guy really can hold a grudge, likes to pick a fight, and has anger problems, and he might come after you just for being friends with Romeo. You really shouldn't have crashed the Capulet party with Romeo and Benvolio. Overall, what I am trying to say is that you shouldn't be held accountable for Romeo's immature behavior, and the resurgence of hate between the houses. Just remember, you're not really a Montague. Just try to stay out of this fight, and not get caught in the crossfire, for your own sake.

With love,
Jared

  1. This is really good! I liked how you talked to him like he was someone your age, and like they were one of your own friends. It made the letter sound a lot more personal!:)

  2. This is really good. I like how concerned you were for mercutio. If I was him, I would have taken your advice. It sounds like you think Romeo is kind of like a booby trap for Mercutio.

Thee is not thy buddy ol 'pal. this conflict is the perfect reason to step in between thy friends and the houses. Benvolio and Romeo are thy friends, thy cannot leave them. Thy must stop the rolling snowball of the houses before it gets too great. Thee advice sucketh.
